Young Kings & Queens Are Our Future

By stepping in early in to the lives of young people we use chess and other community activities to model peace, strength, and responsibility.

As Seen On

Working Everyday To Strengthen Our Community

Working with Youths of all ages

Chess improves cognitive skills concentration, problem solving, decision making and more. Our youth gain confidence and self-worth.

Community Leaders

A great benefit of the Young Kings and Queens Chess club is the inclusion of community leaders in the events we host. There is never a lack of inspirational men and women to build relationships with our youth.

Working With Our Seniors

We care about all parts of our community. What speaks more to our community than the seniors who paved the way for us? Chess provides the same benefits for them as it does for our young people.

Anti Violence Initiatives

We aim to educate our young kings and queens about the dangers of violence in our community. Keeping them away from that life by providing a solid outlet. And we are always supported by those working to keep us safe.

First of all, I am 82 years old. I met Mr. Romeo in Co-op City about a year ago. I’m part of JASA which is comprise mostly of seniors. I attended his chess program in November of last year and haven’t stop yet. I’m in his program right now. He his very patient with me and has help me to regain the feeling to be more active and outgoing. What I love the most about him us that he always checking on me to see how I am doing. Its not just about him teaching chess with you, it’s about the relationship after he do so. I was impressed when he supported us and did the senior walk with us in Co-op City last week.
